WEEK ONE EXECUTION
week one: execution
dead men tell no tales

Hopefully you got a long night of sleep? Barring that, you got whatever answers, or closure, you might have needed. Because it's strangely quiet, the following Sunday morning. Moreso than Krankaz typically is. There's something almost oppressive hanging over the city, contained within the confines of the Bubble.
Breaking the silence, somewhere, much like the song of Friday, there is the echoing, cruel laughter of voices you should faintly recognize throughout the city. It's followed by humming of that newly familiar song. It's strongest, interestingly, close to the plaza.
As time turns to 1 PM, though, there is a change as the voices fade. While there's no compulsion to investigate it, there's a small gathering in the plaza. Your three Watchers are here with their daemons, and so are... Bertolt, and his daemon, front and center. All damages and evidence, anything amiss from the weekend, is all gone, and replaced with the state of the plaza from the week prior.
Nearby, the Watchers oversee everything. Satariel is standing close to Bertolt and Idi, keeping their head up, but the visible portion of their face is lined in misery and tension. Their daemon is in its raven form, barely seen from within their hood and pressed as close to their neck and head as it can be. Rameel stands next to Satariel, with their daemon in the form of a puma, also close to them. There's barely a smile that crosses Rameel's face as their gaze is between Satariel and the sight before them. On Satariel's other side is the last Watcher, pressed close enough to nudge with an elbow. Their daemon paces before them as an ocelot, ears pulled back in displeasure as both it and Yomiel await the executioner.
And then, another party will be compelled to join them. Kotetsu will find that his feet are carrying him to his destination, Finley keeping pace with him as they make their way down the ruined paths that make up the city of Krankaz. Once he passes through the centermost area of the plaza, opposite where Bertolt stand, he'll find that he can't go back, and neither can his daemon.
Likewise, no one can enter the plaza further than where the three Watchers stand are forced to step back, though luckily not expelled like last week. There will be no interfering from outside parties, no matter what it is that's about to happen. Any attempts to do so will result in them meeting an invisible barrier, one that rebuffs them with the same amount of force used against it—so take care.

being on the outside of this is bad. san lang, who was a ferret, immediately leaps down from xie lian's shoulder and transforms into a qilin, letting out a roar at the same time xie lian shouts - ]
Mr. Kotetsu--!

[Ryutaro is hopping alongside, an aggressive little bunny.]
no subject
He's already injured.
no subject
[Physically, that is.]
But. . . asking him to be the one to do this is unforgivable.

[ he reaches up to touch the barrier, hand curling into a fist. ] What an utterly vile thing to do.
Last week, I tried - I tried to keep it from happening, and my attempt was answered by those creatures. [ will they show up again today? like a warning, like a threat, to finish it or else. ]

...Bertolt asked me last night to look after Mr. Kotetsu, if I could, along with a few others. [ so how cruel is it, that kotetsu has ended up in this situation.
he takes a deep breath. ] ...We just have to have faith and hope in him. No matter how unjust or cruel this situation is - that is what we must focus on. He had the same in me, last week.

He'll... [be alright? if kotetsu is alright, that means bertolt won't be.] ...he'll handle this.

[ but, thinking on his conversation with kotetsu from the night before -
san lang's ears pin back. ] But he should not have to, is the thing.

[aura vibrates angrily in sheba's arms, and she has to adjust her hold on the djinni to keep her from rushing the barrier again.]
...the Watchers' higher-ups have a lot to answer for.
no subject
Trust me, I'm gonna make them answer.
no subject
anyway. he glances over at rex at that, and looks back, lips twitching a little at the corner. ]
Mm. A good attitude to have - I agree. I think we all feel the same.
[ the entire game voice: i'd like to speak to your manager ]

it's only when he sees that trident that his expression shifts, blue eyes widening. the crow caws. ]
He said he'd do anything for his friends.
no subject
...Bertolt is a soldier. With that and without - when put in a fight to the death, it is only natural to fight for your own survival, no matter what.
[ and to do so for his friends, to survive for them; is that not natural, too. ]
no subject
[ while he doesn't necessarily want bertolt to die, he doesn't want kotetsu to die either. ]
Either way, it's another loss for the villagers.
no subject
[ a loss for the villagers, huh... that gets a soft noise of agreement, as he watches. ]
no subject
[ he nods. ]
I believe in him.

Xie Lian... [ elbow to elbow quietly. ]
We should be prepared for when Kotetsu returns to us. [ kaeya refuses to believe that he will be taken down like this. ] The damages will likely be great.
no subject
right. ]
...yes. [ san lang is still animatedly pacing at the barrier, or he'd greet polaris. ] We need the people who are the most capable of caring for injuries - Mr. Kim, Miss Yelena, those who have helped - as close by as possible, for when the barrier drops.
My kit is running low on bandages, but I am happy to offer what I have.
no subject
Not just physically.
[ he folds his arms tighter around himself. ]
We all observed him upon the announcement... this will not go well for him mentally.
no subject
[ this answer comes quietly. ]
But that is a bridge we will need to cross when we come to it. Bandage the wound, then find the salve for the heart.
[ time for a full game cuddle pile (no) ]
no subject
His heart is wild.
[ he watches finley, watches kotetsu, and polaris gives out a soft cry. ]

who keeps letting the blind girl come to executions? anyway, she's just clutching onto xie lian's arm while all this crazy shit happens. who needs commentary when you have the safety of daozhang's buff arm? ]

...If you would like me to describe what is happening to you, I will, A-Qing.

[ weird uncle better survive!!! ]
