WEEK TWO MINGLE

otamo: week 2 mingle melodies of m̸̜̭̝̥̉̈́̃ë̴̱̪̣́͑̀m̴̫̀̌ǫ̴̝͔̞̉̈͠r̵̭͚̳͑́͋ḭ̶̲̋̇̒̔e̶̬̓̄̅š̷̮̪̙̈́͠ forgotten canals
36 Remain

Waking up this morning will reveal some unfamiliar surroundings. Gone is the ancient city—which many learned had come to be named Krankaz—and its salt-caked, rusted, ruined world. Your beds are more comfortable, your things stored away in much finer rooms where light filters in through stained glass. Did you miss sunlight? Fresh air? There's much of it to be found, here. But there seems to be... music faintly playing from somewhere, at all times? Sometimes, the song changes, but it's always of the same quality. How strange...

You all awaken in your beds—although they aren't the beds that you found yourself falling asleep in previously, and you might not even see the same face as you had the previous night. But one by one, as you filter out, you find yourselves in a dusty mansion, this go around. It's almost eerie, with the music in the background softly playing, but it's easy to tune it out as you begin exploring the new world that you've all found yourselves in.

Much like your previous worlds, this one seems a little sparse, in terms of population. Unlike the last one, though, you'll find other occupants—just not here, with you now. But the bright colors of moss, coral, flora, and fauna are replaced by the bright color of stained glass and greenery, a world filled to the brim with life in a different way. The soft rush of water can be heard everywhere along with the melodies of this city, little water mills constantly running even in the canals, though some of them and the machines here seem to be in a little disrepair. Shall we?

In the foyer of this grand mansion, your Watchers of the week can be found—the Celestials. They're ready to receive you, and hopefully see you through this week more safely than the last two. Good morning!

Baraqiel speaks up first, this time, thick cloak closed around themself completely to conceal their wings, and daemon perched eagle-formed on the banister of the stairs. "We've got a name right off for this one, unlike the last one. City's called Otamo—do all of us and yourselves a favor and don't break anything that actually keeps the lights on. Maintaining a city is hard enough without everyone bringing it down around us."

Daemon on their shoulder in squirrel form, Suriel has a smile and a wave for everyone. "It's a nice place, too! Or it was, once. And the music's great - just like being in a video game! Ah, but try not to break into everything? Or at least try put it back like you found it, please."

Resting on Shamsiel's head is their daemon, and they start the day with a polite smile for everyone. "And like always, we're here to help you however we can. So, please, you know how to reach us should there be anything you'd need."

That seems to be all, but before you're released off to go exploring—Baraqiel has one last thing to add: "They're too nice to say it, but I'm not: stop asking Suriel for anything involving blood, whether it's power-related or for food. If you want that shit, ask a different Watcher, and ask Suriel for something else."

Suriel has some quiet protests to that, but they seem to go ignored.

With the new week, travelers will find that they no longer have minor control of the four major elements. Instead, they'll find that they have an unbreakable connection to another participant, one that reveals something many of you work hard to hide. You feel what they feel, and they feel what you feel, both physically and emotionally. What will you do when faced with the terrifying ordeal of being known? This effect lasts all week.

Additionally, there's an aspect of this world you may want to take note of—around the city, primarily in the canals, are broken panes and shards of glass that are... different. These can be retrieved out of the water, or off the banks, or from broken fixtures to no detriment to yourselves. However, you'll find that interacting with them shares a fragment of a memory from your point of view with those around you, genuine and true. The music of Otamo adapts to each memory, and may drown out any spoken word in the memory (though you may play with the intensity of this, to allow for some dialogue to be audible), but with how most shards are small enough to be held in the hand, they have a transportable potential to them. You may bring your memshare to others, whether by accident or on purpose.

Even though there are opposite "teams" I see no reason to behave like these "teams" have to be against each other like the Watchers' higher-ups want us to be.

[Especially if it's because an Angel, who most likely is one of those higher-ups, he assumes, just went ahead and prodded Bertolt to kill someone. It wasn't even one of the Watchers.

...if Bertolt's testimony can be trusted, that is]

Playing along the way those angels over them want can't be a good idea.

[Something that in anyone else's mouth would sound kind of idealistic, in Revali it sounds more out of defiance to whatever's going on than a feeling of camaraderie and friendship. Still, he's not the sort to say platitudes, so this must be something he truly thinks should be done]

It wasn't even a good deal to begin with, he didn't get to know who was on the other team! He died stupidly!

Agreed. It's a ridiculous command for many reasons, but was he expected to just hope that he got lucky with his target?

Sounded like it. If this angel guy is talking about competition, I think he's lying! Since he just killed his own teammate instead, so if anything, he double-lost.

From what it sounded like, he didn't completely understand what the angel was trying to tell him. It sounded like he was approached, told stuff, and then made some assumptions because he wasn't given clear instructions...?
powerplay: ([099])

[personal profile] powerplay 2021-10-12 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
That makes it even worse that he decided to go through with it...

But I guess he did also say he felt like he had to listen.

I kinda know how that feels.

[personal profile] spydey 2021-10-12 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Mm... it's hard for us to say anything, since we haven't been in that situation.

[ she looks around. allegedly they haven't. ]

So I'm not sure if there's anything else going on he may not have realized was happening.
powerplay: ([088])

[personal profile] powerplay 2021-10-12 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
There probably was. He doesn't even know who was telling him that was a good idea, after all. Did anyone ask the Watchers yet?

[ They weren't available on Sunday, but. ]

[personal profile] spydey 2021-10-12 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
I wonder what they would even say to this...

Probably being more sad and clueless and saying they can't tell us more or they'll turn into dust.

[ She's clearly :/ about the censorship. ]

[Nero is also here, arms crossed and nodding.]

After last weekend, seems like we're all willin' enough to work together. I don't really know how important these "teams" really are at the grand scheme of things.

So... if you find information, it'd be best to share it with the group.
burnstrike: (i'll try not to wonder where you are)

[personal profile] burnstrike 2021-10-12 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I don't get what this team stuff is about at all. If anything, they've just been pitting us against each other one-on-one, right?
perfectdistance: ([YT] Hurry up and play)

[personal profile] perfectdistance 2021-10-12 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
It's not like any of us have been widely sharin' what team we're on or anythin' like that. So maybe it's more one-on-one because we haven't really had a time to form divisions?
burnstrike: (you don't have to agree with me)

[personal profile] burnstrike 2021-10-12 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
I guess. Seems like they should be pushing for those divisions harder if it's supposed to matter that much, though... not that I mind that they haven't been.
perfectdistance: ([G] Concern 1)

[personal profile] perfectdistance 2021-10-12 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
I don't even know if these division matter at all. Or if it's all arbitrary.

[personal profile] trickedges 2021-10-12 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
The fact that the apparent angels in charge of either side won't intervene to stop one of their own from being killed in a murder that they instigated suggests to me that they might not actually care as much about these divisions as they'd otherwise like to imply.

[ he's spitballing but look. if killing the other side is so important to them you'd think they'd aim their murderers at the other side.

the problem with assuming they don't care is that the question then becomes: why make them kill? how do the angels benefit from this, if not from thinning out the opposing team? ]

[personal profile] perfectdistance 2021-10-12 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Then what's the point of makin' people kill to begin with? What're the angles in charge gettin' out of it? Bloodshed for the sake of it?

[He moved to get away from this, damn it.

How the hell are they supposed to get answers like this?]

[ thank you Nero for being the voice of his thinky metatext thoughts. ]

If only we knew, hm?

[ anyway the way he sees it either the angels are running a sloppy as hell ship even if the only thing they want is for them to kill each other, orrrrrr this all is a pretense and front for something more ominous. he doesn't like this? ]

[Is it not a competition at all? Is it just a meat grinder? Did they literally only get picked to die?]

... I don't like the ideas 'm headin' towards here.

All depends on what the endgame is, doesn't it? If the idea's to make a competition and eliminate us... that tracks. Still doesn't make total sense, but there's something to it.

Just duping some poor bozo into killing one of their own, though... The hell's the point of that? Were they just bored or something.

[Why must he be an irreverent shithead the 3948943-part series.]
perfectdistance: ([YT] Shoud I place a Draw Two)

[personal profile] perfectdistance 2021-10-12 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
If they wanna eliminate everybody, then sure, this is a way to do it. Maybe they don't even care what side is dyin', as long as they're gettin' blood for... something.

You'd think, they'd at least point Bertolt in the right direction if he was really supposed to take out the other side.
drinkingproblem: (16571709 (59))

[personal profile] drinkingproblem 2021-10-12 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Kind of a waste to eliminate everybody -- then what was all the effort even for. I don't get it. Then again, even with the details about the Watchers I don't get it, really.

[What's all this about divine order and stuff. This is so far above his pay grade. Also he's not even getting paid for this??]

... Maybe they're just real bad at giving orders or he's real bad at taking 'em.

[The guy's like a chihuahua in giraffe form...]

What's the fastest way to make people feel like they wanna kill? To have somethin' to fight for, or to have something to keep 'em on the line.

[He frowns and crosses his arms.]

We don't have much to work with.

Mm, I do agree with that, but we have to keep in mind how they might force our hands.

Bertolt won't be the last to be approached by this so-called angel.
