Whatever you were doing previously, wherever you were, you come back into yourself very abruptly, after going through a haze. Quite literally, as it turns out. You and your daemon are left to wander through a thick, cloying fog, where sights and sounds are muffled. All attempts to call out don't result in much, and your voice is just swallowed up. At least you're not alone—no matter their form, you know who and what they are, and they stick close to you, just as without answers as you are. How unfortunate.

But your feet carry you until, finally, the actual fog clears—at least, enough to let you see the street you walk along—and now your surroundings are a little more apparent. Even if you're far from home, maybe in less than ideal condition at the moment, at least you're not alone in this? Turns out it isn't just the two of you. As if they've walked right out of the fog, themselves, there are others on this long boulevard lined with palm trees, breathing in the stormy sea air, just like you.

Hard to say where you've wound up, and just when in the day, with the storm overhead. It's not night, that's for sure, and it's some sort of city, though it looks a little... worn down. Abandoned. Weird. Where are all the people, besides you? There's movement, occasionally, but whoever it is skitters away and disappears before you have a chance to get a closer look—at first, anyways. Maybe you can catch them after exploring a bit?

... though, maybe you want to change, first? ( 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 ) Wow, you're really dressed up for... well, what sort of occasion would warrant this...

Some further walking on the boulevard leads you along storefronts of various kinds, but one in particular stands out. Looks like there's a message that's been posted up on a shop bulletin board, standing out due to intent. Just pinned in place, after the rest of it was obviously cleared out in a hurry, with some pages having been torn off and leaving corners and bits behind.

The note's colors seem to change dependent on the angle you're looking at it from, either shimmery gold or silver, with a faint sheen of another color that varies depending on the penmanship.

In handwriting that barely seems legible will read the following: I hope you enjoy my gift!! And don't worry you're ALL beautiful. ;)

In loopy but legible handwriting, with little hearts for the dots over their I's: We'll try to get some answers for you guys, since I'm sure you have a lot of questions. For now, check out the shop for some bags! I'm sorry that it's not much, considering the situation, but if there's anything else you need—there's plenty of other shops around the city. Looking forward to seeing you all soon!!

Just below that in neat handwriting that almost looks straight out of a text book: I know it might be scary to find yourselves in a new place, but I promise that things will be okay. We'll make sure it's okay. Maybe there's something here that you can find out before we can get to you. Try to get along the meantime—we'll talk to you as soon as we can.

And in bubbly handwriting at the bottom: Sorry we can't welcome you in person yet, but we'll be there soon! We're trying to work out some things right now, like how to get your stuff back to you. You're in a safe place, though, so try to take it easy and stick together until we get there, okay? See you soon!

Inside the shop, it's as the message says: there are bags neatly lined up. There's something... enchanted about them, almost, that leads you to the one that is apparently yours, and prevents anyone else from picking up someone else's. (Literally, like they weigh a ton, even if you're normally capable of lifting said ton.) The enchantment wears off once you've claimed your bag. Each one contains:

★ a travel size first aid kit, with bandages, gauze pads, and a little tube of antibiotic ointment
★ a small dessert box of edible sugar flowers
★ a coupon for a meal at the Hotel Nido di Gazza
★ a golden coin, specific to you and your daemon alone

Attached to the side of each satchel is one of those small, single-person umbrellas that come in a variety of patterns and are prone to turning inside out in a stiff breeze or yeeting off the handle when the button is pressed when used too frequently or not just right. There's a note attached in that loopy but legible handwriting saying: sorry, there weren't any better ones in the city. :(


At present, a thick fog and threatening thunderclouds have encased the city. Rain is intermittent, as are the flashes of lightning, but it's a rather oppressive atmosphere to welcome you in with. Any attempts to leave the city walls, or to step off of the boulevard into the unknown (even if you can clearly see the sand of the beach, hear the waves beyond, see a beacon of light cutting through the thick fog), will be met with a feeling of dread and your steps turning you back around into the city proper again. Your daemons may even tug at your clothes with a self preservation instinct that kicks in for the both of you. Isn't it safer here?

Hello, everybody! Welcome to the start of the game—please enjoy the weekend zero intro to the fullest, as we get everyone settled in, and feel free to explore the setting to your heart's contents. Additionally, please note two things of particular interest as your characters familiarize themselves with their new home away from home:

The first, of course, being that IC profiles are not ICly available yet. Once they are, we'll let you know. Just make sure you're filling them out this weekend!

The second is that your character does not have their item from home or canon changes of clothes yet. If you'd like to change out of the clothing that you've been so graciously given—why? They're nice, aren't they? Don't you appreciate them? But I guess you can raid the homes and shops of the city, if need be, until further notice. Clothing styles are 90s function over fashion you might find in a humid climate like this one, though there are some... outdated, if simple, trendier styles available.

[When you're mostly confined to a mechanical beast of ancient technology for a hundred years you pretty much tune everything out. It's a cursed existence, really. Still, once everything was over, Revali was fine with it. He's dead, what else can one ask of him? The book has closed on his legend.

Until it was opened again, because he's now alive and in the flesh and feathers. That he discovers pretty quickly. Next he discovers is all he's wearing. Revali, still in the middle of the fog, shouts with indignation:]

What's the meaning of this?!

[Well, nothing he can do about it. At least he's not so alarmed about the honey badger walking alongside him.

Flying in the fog -- even with his superlative eyesight -- is quite dangerous, so he settles with walking. Once he's at the city he still doesn't bother to even try to fly. Everything is so cramped...that and he also would need to figure out the best way to carry Medli around. That's going to take a bit, he figures.

There sure are a lot of Hylians around, he notices. Wait, no, not Hylians. The ears are different. They probably are similar to Hylians, maybe a bit of Gerudo around, he figures. Still, no attempt to make conversation. He shakes his head with disdain and keeps walking.

What's the point of these outrageous uniforms?

[Questions to be asked, truly. They already would look ridiculous on anyone, but on Revali? They look even more ridiculous. He's a bird dressed like a sexy nun, what did you expect? He had been focused on exploring, considering leaving the city, but after once another moment of frustration with the strangeness of these clothes he just couldn't hold it back anymore. His voice sounds strained, like he's trying hard not to blame the person he asked that to. Medli, though, is insistent on gnawing on the fabric. The daemon sure isn't shy about expressing her displeasure! Not that Revali is shy about that either.

There's Revali, messing with his personal umbrella -- having picked up his personal bag -- opening and closing it without making an effort to get under it. It's just a bit of rain. In his opinion, holding this...object up high is more an invitation to get a thunderbolt on you, no thank you]

This settlement is so...it's so ridiculous. It's like they're trying to cram everything as close as possible, leaving barely any space for moving. That's got to be unhealthy, don't you think? [He gestures around with the closed umbrella] It shouldn't be any surprise this place is in such a sorry state. Hmph. And not even a hint of the blue skies at all.

[This dreadful weather is no problem for the great Revali, obviously! But he's not going to risk the safety of his now-trusted companion Medli by experimenting with flight in such conditions. Medli seems to be quite attached to Revali, baring her fangs at everyone. Even though Revali is being civil, Medli seems to be showing all of the repressed disdainfulness]

That's a big ass bird. [ A pause as he glances at the cactus that seems to jumping on the ground beside him. ] Hey, am I losing it, or did it speak?

If you'll loudly ask yourself asinine questions about someone else, at least do it in front of that someone.

[To their face, preferably. That's what Revali does. What's being tactful? What's not being a rude asshat? Don't ask him, he doesn't know -- the majority of the time?]

[ She most recently resides in Tokyo, after all. But she has more pressing questions. ]

I wouldn't know. I can't even imagine what a human is supposed to be.

[Probably not this person, he guesses. Hm, horns. Probably means she's different than most people here, huh. There's a lot of races that look similar but have important differences, he supposes]

I think you look good in it. But maybe we're supposed to become an army of nuns to fight demo-eh?!

If anyone's expecting me to fight, giving something as cumbersome as these clothes is a foolish decision.

[ At this point, Kotetsu has probably already damaged the provided umbrella and has long since given up on that option. A little rain won't kill him. Hopefully.

But at the comment of the surroundings, he places a hand over his brow like he's scouting, or blocking out the rain, and looks up to scan the height of the towers. ]

[ He isn't even going to respond about what the stranger looks like, considering he's probably going to just assume it's some hero outfit or something. ]

Of course. Rito Village is at a place where all of its inhabitants can soar into the firmament at any time, simply from jumping from its edges and gliding away.

[Well, leaving aside how for the last century there was a cursed divine beast in the vicinity, making it way too dangerous, but eh. Point is, Rito Village is definitely not like this city]

[ Whoa there. At least having her own mysterious animal here means she's not going to mistake him for a monster and attack, but she still totally assumes he's somebody else's daemon until he talks and she notices he seems to have an animal companion of his own.

Might just be because of the surrounding environment. Like, if it's close to a river or a ledge or something, or if you only have one source of water, you can only expand outward so far.

Fair enough. Not that it'd stop any community eager to expand. People have ways of pushing against the boundaries of the impossible, no matter what race they are.

[Revali twirls the umbrella, looking at it like it's something he hadn't ever seen before but considers it pointless anyway]

But it could be worse. We all should be thankful this isn't in the middle of a volcanic area or a similarly hostile surrounding. The disorienting weather is enough of a problem already.

[ Here's Reze, Grigory taking the initiative to shift into a lynx as it becomes more aware of the people and their daemon's here. Instinctive, she feels it curl around her legs even as she remains poised and unfazed. ]

Oh, oh! Maybe you can fly up and get a better look around the place? Can you do that, Birdie?

['Birdie', oh lord. Revali's feathers bristle at being called that]

I certainly won't do that for the likes of you!

[Someone who doesn't show the proper respect he deserves is nobody to him, pretty much. It wouldn't be that much of an issue if it wasn't because the respect Revali says he deserves is a little too inflated]

This much crowding is normal. In my part of town, anyway.

[The lieutenant's tone is neutral, but then he looks at who he's talking to and... adjusts his glasses, squinting. Bruises cover his face.]

... Hm. This is bad.

[He says, looking directly at Revali.]

So this is considered normal for your race...how inconvenient, but I won't be one to look down on how other communities live.

[Still thinks it's unhealthy, but eh. If it's normal then it's nothing to criticize]

[Medli, grabbing onto Revali's shoulder, already seems to be baring her fangs. Even though Revali is being civil it seems his daemon doesn't hesitate to react with hostility. Or maybe that's just how honey badgers are like. Who knows]

Hehhh, beats me, but they're even dressing up the ninja summons now? I think. Which of you is the extra bit, anyway?

[Look, somebody had to ask the question?? You'd think it was the bigger one being the main body but 1. Ninja summons are fucking huge sometimes and 2. Suigetsu's daemon is currently a large shark with its head stuck in a wash basin. He could use the nun outfit as a guide but who the fuck does that.

At this point he hasn't gotten a wheelbarrow yet, so he's just hanging out at the side of the road next to his wash basin, holding a flimsy, badly-prepped umbrella over it. He's doing his best.

And squinting curiously at Revali. Hmmm.]

[Medli stops munching on the coif and looks at the one who dared to say that. Oh, she knows what's coming:]

...if by 'extra bit' do you mean the daemon that's obviously not the one speaking. How unobservant are you?

[Uncalled for, Revali. Well, not to him -- Revali was already in a bad mood due to the nun clothes, someone asking an inane question like that one feels like another joke to his expense. Medli for once doesn't seem to try to rein Revali. Perhaps she agreed with that?]

It sort of reminds me of some parts of a city I spent some time in. I didn't like it much there, either.

This certainly doesn't resemble any place I have ever been in. Wherever this is must be far away from anywhere I'm familiar with.

[Or maybe he's wrong and this is somewhere in Hyrule that's in the midst of, you know, falling apart due to the Calamity, unaware it's all over in a high note. You never know, he supposes!]

I believe it's not meant for walking. My current thought is that these are meant to be some sort of element meant to curtail everyone's speed.

[Leaving aside that you can, well, take them off, though. Still! This town doesn't seem like the best to be going around barefoot with soft feet!]

The ridiculous uniform is unneeded, though. This must be their idea of a bad joke.
