WEEK TWO EXECUTION
week two: execution
no melodies no memories
no melodies no memories
Hopefully you got a long night of sleep? Barring that, you got whatever answers, or closure, you might have needed. Because it's strangely quiet, the following Sunday morning, the everyday background music you've all gotten used to reduced to mere echoes on the wind.
Breaking the silence, somewhere, much like the song of Friday, there is the echoing, cruel laughter of voices you should faintly recognize throughout the city. It's followed by humming of that newly familiar song. It's strongest, interestingly, close to the plaza.
As time turns to 1 PM, though, there is a change as the voices fade. While there's no compulsion to investigate it, there's a small gathering in the plaza. Your three Watchers are here with their daemons, and so are... Suigetsu, and his daemon, front and center. All damages and evidence, anything amiss from the weekend, is all gone, and replaced with the state of the plaza from the week prior.
Nearby, the Watchers stand clustered together. Suriel is silent where they lean on their crutch, wings drooping under their cloak as their caracal paces restlessly. Shamsiel is also silent as they stand there to the other side of Suriel, their cloak covering them completely with the exception of their one good arm which clenches at their chest. Keeping an eye on Suigetsu is Baraqiel, tiger-formed daemon tracking Naito closely, pacing where the Watchers have estimated the boundary will be.
And then, another party will be compelled to join them. Rochalizo will find that his feet are carrying him to his destination, Philia sticking close to him as they travel across banks and canals to the heart of the markets. Once he passes through the centermost area of the plaza, opposite where Suigetsu stands, he'll find that he can't go back, and neither can his daemon.
Likewise, no one can enter the plaza further than where the three Watchers stand, having gotten a good gauge of what will happen now. There will be no interfering from outside parties, no matter what it is that's about to happen. Any attempts to do so will result in them meeting an invisible barrier, one that rebuffs them with the same amount of force used against it—so take care.

Okay, are we going to explain what's going on here, or.

[Looking over at her, smiling briefly, but it fades.]
We have brought a most unfortunate ritual to your doors, my dear madam. That man with his aquatic creature has committed a grave murder, and now we are forced into...execution.
no subject
... Really. [a beat.] Guess we didn't even have to go into the city for shit to go south, huh.
no subject
It seems so. If I were you...I wouldn't stay. These events are most brutal.

The only reason I'm here is to babysit Mugen. [a pause.] It's okay. I've seen worse.
no subject
[He's unwrapping the other piece to chew on, pensively.]
What should be reassuring for you all, however, is the fact that we will be out of your hair the next day. We only travel to worlds week by week, after all.

[there's a pause, and then:] You guys are leaving?

I gotta be honest: I don't really understand it either.
no subject
Reassuring. Really. [she says, dryly.]
no subject
[Probably not any more reassuring, but.]
no subject
... Well, that's a touch fucked up. [...] You guys have the means to make sure whoever comes out doesn't die also, right?

It's a public execution... it happens after each trial we complete... [ his expression is tight. ] We've yet to find a way around it, the last time they punished us for pushing back, badly. We'll just have to keep trying.
no subject
They punished you? Who is they? [a beat. she sort of buzzes a bit.] Who is they?

Whoever watches the Watchers. [ he points towards where the celestials/hooded and masked figures are seated. ] The Watchers themselves... they've tried to vie for us multiple times, without much luck.
no subject
Huh. [she very gently tucks his hair out of his face to try and get a better look at those burns.] Well, it definitely doesn't look like they were able to help you much. Are you cleaning these?
no subject
I mean, I do my best, but there's a lot. They're on the mend... [ he frowns ] I just wish we weren't so low on medical supplies. We'll have to see if we can get anything from the Watchers in a few days...

[ :c
but, quietly - ] ...Miss, did the children settle in alright? [ none of them better be here ]
no subject
Of course they did. [don't worry none of them are here, clint's probably watching them] ... Thanks again. By the way.
no subject
Of course. I only wish we could have done more, miss - but, I hope they are enjoying their time in the sun. I have meant to come by and visit more, but... [ glances back at everything and also his own injuries ] ...it has been very busy.
no subject
[...] And all of you are just going to leave and have to do it all over again, huh.
[that feels weirdly familiar for some reason but she can't put her finger on it.]
no subject
heh ]
That's correct. [ he nods, voice quiet. ] It has been three weeks of this, now. But... to know that we were able to help people, here - I am glad. Moreso than anything, that has brought me a great joy.
