ahnkeen: week 3 mingle in the sands of time

Waking up this morning will reveal some unfamiliar surroundings. The soft ripples of the canals and dulcet tones of otamatone fade from your ears, replaced by a steady, dry breeze and the ambient noise of the local populace filtering in through open windows. Another thing you'll notice is that it's warm - very warm. Light dress is recommended here.

You all awaken in your beds—although they aren't the beds that you found yourself falling asleep in previously, and you might not even see the same face as you had the previous night. But one by one, as you filter out, you find yourselves in a house, a bit on the older side but still comfortable. The decor is neutral and inoffensive, much like you'd expect of a place that sees many visitors.

Unlike the previous worlds you've visited, Ahnkeen is a bustling, busy place, full of people of all sorts - and not all are human, so please check your biases at the door. Though the world around them is dry and scarce of resources, the market town itself is alive and well, business booming, and the merchants here keep a close eye on their wares in case of any thieves.



Traversing down the streets of the housing district are the Temporals. For the most part they seem ready to receive everyone. Throwing their hands into the air and meandering down Rameel will be spearhead the introductions this time—their puma daemon trailing behind them. As an extra treat, they'll even seem to have their “black box” from previous with them this fine morning on full blast.

"Hello, hello everyone! WELCOME TO AHNKEEN!! The home to the great markets...probably. I hope more of you are used to these scenery changes by now, and by popular demand are your favorite Temporals. We've changed the set for the hat trick, but we won't stop there."

Satariel is standing close to Yomiel, their undercloak absent and their daemon raven-formed on their shoulder - it squawks after Rameel yells the welcome, but they offer everyone a warm smile. They do reach over to... turn down the "black box" of Rameel's, without looking, smile still intact. "For those of you that kept your things from previous worlds, especially the treasure from our adventures underwater, you might find that they come in handy here. We are in a market, after all."

The last Watcher has also shed their undercloak, staring at Rameel while their polecat daemon chitters. "Anyway," they turn to the rest with a vague gesture at Satariel. "Try not to steal too much this time. The last few worlds were pretty quiet, but you might run into trouble with the locals here if you keep that up."


With the new week, travelers will find that they are no longer connected physically and emotionally to another participant. As opposed to being drawn to one person in particular, they'll find themselves with the need to be physically close to any other participant they speak to. Go on, hold their hand, get your snuggle on - it'll make you feel better. This effect lasts all week.

[The last one out comes out running, not limping. He'd been lagging a bit behind the others, but once they're through he's finally ducking out as well. Energy-wise, he seems to be doing the best out of the four. He at least has it in him to be visibly angry rather than tired. But that might just be par for the course. Physically, however, he's a mess. Dirty, blood and unmentionable stinky death-fluids on his clothes, scratches and bruises galore. Given how his running slows to a limp, it's possible he hurt his legs too.

...he is also trying to carry his sword one-handed over a shoulder, since his other arm is very obviously mauled and hanging off to the side, but shhh.]

FUCK ghosts! And snakes too!

[This is said as he kicks a rock away in anger.]

She got stabbed and also hurt by a snake so that's probably not good. And lawyer-guy got stabbed in the stomach I think.

[Kim finally caught wind of the first group's return, and comes out to help... just in time to catch the second one. He looks between each of the wounded, his gaze steady and serious.]

We don't have much time.

[He sees Nero's already here with... something? to help.]

Who else needs immediate treatment?

Akira might, he uh.

[He pauses.]

I'm not even sure what the hell I saw.

How long's it been? [ Akira is not answering that question. He is however, refusing to remove his one hand from his side. ]

[van Zieks very clearly has a huge stab wound in his gut but he's just gonna sit down a minute and then walk it off, probably.]

Much time until what?

[ANOTHER ONE...]

Oh, jeez. Right after we cashed in all those heals, too... Who needs the most help after Alisaie?

[He points to Van Zieks.]

I'll be fine for now, my arm's not nearly as bad as it looks. Help them first.

It looks like Mister Van Zieks.

[ he looks a bit confused? ]

Can we do something to get the Watchers here again?

[ The only reason Alphinaud isn't going into full blown panic here is because... he kind of saw this coming. Kind of. Seeing Alisaie's current state gets him pretty damn close, though, and he will practically shove anyone else out of the way if it means getting to her. ]

Alisaie! Oh, thank the Twelve you've returned... Here—

[ His hands are a little shaky, but he holds them out for her to support herself on him with. ]

[She stops in her tracks when she hear Alphinaud's voice, and then an expression of sheer relief crosses over her face.]

Alphinaud. I knew it...

[She'll disentangle herself from van Zieks' side, though she can only reach out and support herself with one of her hands. Her voice is pained, but surprisingly calm despite all of their states.]

I'm afraid... I've done a great many stupid and reckless things without you this time.

[bloodyromance]

[Moving beside Alphinaud, he offers his own arm to support her if she needs it. To contrast with all the panicking, he just gives her a small smile.]

Knew you'd make it back, pet. Let's get you some healing, yeah? [Just looks up at Alphi like, do your thing, sir.]

[He gives Alphinaud a thumbs-up with his non-broken hand.]

I'd say I brought her back safe and sound, but she actually did more of the ass-kicking than me.

[And she's. Not exactly safe and sound.]

That's both groups back then.

[ Sorry hurt folks, Dokja is moving to check on the first person he saw coming through. Brows knit as he looks a little worriedly. ]

Akira, are you only hurt here? [ He's still got a bit of remains left of his medkit after using it earlier. ]

[ Oh, someone he can't really ignore, awkward. ]

Just here. It's— [ He draws a deeper breath in and his lungs do not like that at all. Winces a little. ] annoying.
