WEEK FIVE EXECUTION
week five: execution
i am the manager

Hopefully you got a long night of sleep? Barring that, you got whatever answers, or closure, you might have needed. Because it's strangely quiet, the following Sunday morning, the everyday background music you've all gotten used to reduced to mere echoes on the wind.
Breaking the silence, somewhere, much like the song of Friday, there is the echoing, cruel laughter of voices you should faintly recognize throughout the city. It's followed by humming of that newly familiar song. It's strongest, interestingly, out in the tundra.
As time turns to 1 PM, though, there is a change as the voices fade. While there's no compulsion to investigate it, there's a small gathering out in the snow. Your three Watchers are here with their daemons, and so are... Rochalizo, and his daemon, front and center. All damages and evidence, anything amiss from the weekend, is all gone, and replaced with the state of the hotel from the week prior.
Standing close are the Watchers. Satariel is carefully putting a coat around Rochalizo's shoulders, frowning, their daemon bear-formed and pressed close to them to keep them steady. Yomiel stands close by, offering what warmth they can before the barriers rise. Rameel seems to be expressionless as they were yesterday as they watch over what happens next.
And then, another party will be compelled to join them. Kaeya will find that his feet are carrying him to his destination, Polaris sticking close to him as they travel through the barrier. Once he passes through an arbitrarily decided threshold, opposite where Rochalizo stands, he'll find that he can't go back, and neither can his daemon.
Likewise, no one can enter the tundra further than where the Watchers are pushed back to, Satariel having to brace against the bear once more so as not to fall. There will be no interfering from outside parties, no matter what it is that's about to happen. Any attempts to do so will result in them meeting an invisible barrier, one that rebuffs them with the same amount of force used against it—so take care.

shit.
yuri gets to the barrier just after kaeya passes through it and-- smashes his fist on it without a damn care that it sends him staggering back when he does so. pravda shifts into her biggest form and starts pacing agitatedly around the edge of the barrier, snarling if anyone gets too close to her. ]

he doesn't say anything, but his knuckles are going white at his sides from where he's clenching his hands. ]

Yuri. [ he opens his mouth to say more, but he knows there is absolutely nothing he can say to make this okay. it'd all be empty words. ]

After he -
[
he cuts himself off, there, and the expression he has steeled into calm turns to fury, for a moment, and then he pushes it back. ]

... I'd hoped it'd be something else.
[ this is already bad enough without poisoning rochalizo too -- it's just a double up, risking two lives when one is already bordering on death due to circumstances that they didn't even need anyway. ]
What is the point of this if he's already dying?

[ lmao. his hand shifts against the golden tiger at his side, white knuckled. vengeance. lashed out anger. personal slight. he's not sure which.
... either way, it is an unnecessary cruelty, and it makes xie lian furious.
...though, allen makes a good point. ] Or perhaps attempted mercy.
[ like the events of thursday night, had been. an attempt against a system they've all been stuck in.
somehow, that's even worse. his gaze flicks away, finally, once to the sky above before it returns to the ring. ]
no subject
... It wasn't wanted either way.
[ that's as simple as it needs to be. ]

No. [ his calm is pretty much gone, now - xie lian's incensed and upset and san lang snaps his jaws and stops barely a centimeter from the barrier again, hackles raised. ] No - he's, both of them, they're -
[ he hates this. hates it. as rochalizo ] Kaeya! [ another scream, this time anger at feeling so futile bubbling over, as rochalizo goes for the injury that xie lian knows is there. hates that he has to fight like this, that he feels he has to be this way.
listen to him, listen, listen, listen, please, why does no one ever listen - ]

-- Kaeya. [ yuri sounds somewhere between shaken and furious all at once. xie lian isn't wrong; they can tell god to go fuck themselves, rebel at every possibility and every chance. he gets it. he understands what kaeya's trying to do. his own rebellion in the middle of all this, an attempt to go against whatever had forced him in there to lift a blade against someone important to him.
but it's just
it's cruel. to both of them. it's cruel, and it's unfair and-- ]
This is just dragging it out now, dammit.

having to watch them both hurt like this and stuck behind like this is killing him. having to know that rochalizo went through hell on thursday, and susato did everything in her power to beat the system while xie lian slept through it, cursed by the magic of this hellish situation, is killing him.
as kaeya speaks, xie lian doesn't breathe - and then forces himself to inhale. a choice has to be made.
(like hitting a switch.
whatever decision we make, we bear together. It doesn't matter who activates it.)
and xie lian raises his voice above the din that remains once more, like a voice out of the heavens, a command with no power behind it beyond his own words. ]
Do it, now!
[ there's a rawness to the way he shouts, a passionate plea from a god who once left the heavens in order to try and stop the kingdom that he loved from suffering so badly, who took a leap back from his ascent without ever looking back, because he couldn't stand idle.
he can't like this, either. xie lian can't stand being in the place of the observer, of the watcher, when two people that he cares about so much have to stagger through agony like it's some kind of sick show. he wants to tear the barrier down, wants to run to kaeya and to rochalizo, wants to summon up his spiritual energy like a fireball and destroy this place from the inside out, but he can't.
all he can do is watch. ]
no subject
there are spectres. and yuri's eyes just go wide and he just rushes the barrier, hard enough to send him skidding back with the force with which he hit it. ]
You have to hurry up.
no subject
it's just utter desperation as the memories of that first execution come rushing back, no no no no no, and this time, xie lian screams. ]
Kaeya!

[He winces when he sees him bash the barrier, but...he knows he can't stop him.]
[He just doesn't want him to hurt himself.]
no subject
just to really settle sholmes' nerves. ]
no subject
[But yeah. He feels it. He understands it.]
no subject
no, he does. he stops and folds his arms instead. he glances very briefly over at sholmes, and then back at what's going on in the space enclosed within this barrier. ]
