week six: execution and the zest was history

Hopefully you got a long night of sleep? Barring that, you got whatever answers, or closure, you might have needed. Because it's strangely quiet, the following Sunday morning, the everyday background music you've all gotten used to reduced to mere echoes on the wind.

Breaking the silence, somewhere, much like the song of Friday, there is the echoing, cruel laughter of voices you should faintly recognize throughout the city. It's followed by humming of that newly familiar song. It's strongest, interestingly, in Star Circle.

As time turns to 1 PM, though, there is a change as the voices fade. While there's no compulsion to investigate it, there's a small gathering in the heart of the city square. Your three Watchers are here with their daemons, and so are... Spike, and his daemon, front and center. All damages and evidence, anything amiss from the weekend, is all gone, and replaced with the state of the Star Circle from the week prior.

Standing close are the Watchers. Baraqiel is nearby, arms crossed, daemon skulking tiger-formed around the edge ring of the Star Circle. Shamsiel stands a bit to the side of Baraqiel with one of their hands grasping onto their wrist as their daemon rests on their shoulder in falconet form. Suriel stands on Shamsiel's other side, daemon nowhere to be seen as they rest their hand on the other's arm.

And then, another party will be compelled to join them. Diluc will find that his feet are carrying him to his destination, Canopus sticking close to him as they travel through the barrier. Once he passes into the innermost sunburst of the circle, opposite where Spike stands, he'll find that he can't go back, and neither can his daemon.

Likewise, no one can enter Star Circle further than where the Watchers are. There will be no interfering from outside parties, no matter what it is that's about to happen. Any attempts to do so will result in them meeting an invisible barrier, one that rebuffs them with the same amount of force used against it—so take care.

[ xie lian is placing himself right next to yuri and kaeya, his expression stormy and angry; his qilin growls at the barrier and positions itself in front of the two of them like a guard. ]

Mr. Diluc will make it quick.

[senjinrouha]

[ ... ]

I'm not letting last week repeat itself.

[yueshen]

Absolutely not.

[ san lang growls at the idea, low and ominous, but stays still. ]

[senjinrouha]

[ it's fine. probably?

it's not fine. ]

[aono]

[Two hours later Rin is coming over to stage-whisper (rather than gay-whisper) to Xie Lian:]

What are they talking about?

[yueshen]

[ he's about to respond to this but then akira tugs him over for a whisper? hang on ]

[aono]

[XL your gay whispering]

[yueshen]

[ he has never had a gay whisper in his life

anyway he gestures over at the question thing. ]

There you have it. [ and to the group at large: ] For the record, we ought not whisper so much, no matter what it is about. There are others listening who could use that information, and we must do our best to be mindful of what they can and cannot hear if we are to continue working together towards our common goal.

[ stan the graveyard ]

[senjinrouha]

[ what xie lian said, but louder. ]

[rerouter]

If the Watchers are right, isn't this the last time we'll go through this song and dance anyway?

[what xie lian said, but also louder.]

[yueshen]

Yes. Let's be as open with each other as we can, please.

[ puts megaphone to mouth

STOP WHISPERING START SHOUTING ]

[aono]

Even if it's stuff we're not supposed to say in public?

[callalilies]

[ daemon trade, they're close enough anyways. polaris is just in wolf form slowly pushing against yuri's side with a low grumble. he lifts his head and looks up at him, giving out a long huff. ]

[senjinrouha]

[ yuri stops whaling on the barrier long enough to settle and dig a hand into polaris' fur. fuck all this, actually. ]

[callalilies]

[ steady and still, he just noses at yuri's hands. your precious hands, stop banging on it, okay? a lick to his palm. there are other things we can do from out here. ]

[senjinrouha]

[ he has stopped for now. for now. hey where's kaeya, come here. ]

[callalilies]

[ here comes the boy at some point with pravda in tow to watch, just immediately glues himself to his side. he will now live here for a while. ]

Diluc will be able to do this. And whatever happens during or after, we will be here for him, to catch him.

[senjinrouha]

[ yuri just shakes his head. ]

I don't doubt he will. I'm just pissed he's up there now.

... What happened last week won't happen again.

[rerouter]

[Hm.

Monika glances over in concern, watching him.]

Yuri...

[senjinrouha]

[ well. he slows down eventually. ]

...

As long as this isn't dragged out. It... should be fine.

[rerouter]

Are either of them the type to drag things out?

[No, probably not.]

[senjinrouha]

No. I don't think so.

[rerouter]

Then... it'll be fine. You said so yourself, right?

[senjinrouha]

It's... more what else is out there I'm concerned about. Especially if they're planning on talking.
