week six: execution

Hopefully you got a long night of sleep? Barring that, you got whatever answers, or closure, you might have needed. Because it's strangely quiet, the following Sunday morning, the everyday background music you've all gotten used to reduced to mere echoes on the wind.

Breaking the silence, somewhere, much like the song of Friday, there is the echoing, cruel laughter of voices you should faintly recognize throughout the city. It's followed by humming of that newly familiar song. It's strongest, interestingly, in Star Circle.

As time turns to 1 PM, though, there is a change as the voices fade. While there's no compulsion to investigate it, there's a small gathering in the heart of the city square. Your three Watchers are here with their daemons, and so are... Spike, and his daemon, front and center. All damages and evidence, anything amiss from the weekend, is all gone, and replaced with the state of the Star Circle from the week prior.

Standing close are the Watchers. Baraqiel is nearby, arms crossed, daemon skulking tiger-formed around the edge ring of the Star Circle. Shamsiel stands a bit to the side of Baraqiel with one of their hands grasping onto their wrist as their daemon rests on their shoulder in falconet form. Suriel stands on Shamsiel's other side, daemon nowhere to be seen as they rest their hand on the other's arm.

And then, another party will be compelled to join them. Diluc will find that his feet are carrying him to his destination, Canopus sticking close to him as they travel through the barrier. Once he passes into the innermost sunburst of the circle, opposite where Spike stands, he'll find that he can't go back, and neither can his daemon.

Likewise, no one can enter Star Circle further than where the Watchers are. There will be no interfering from outside parties, no matter what it is that's about to happen. Any attempts to do so will result in them meeting an invisible barrier, one that rebuffs them with the same amount of force used against it—so take care.

[ kaeya is here. right at the barrier, polaris snarling, hackles raised. his tail lashes even as kaeya remains still at the barrier's edge, his breath held tightly in his chest. ]

[ in a change of pace, pravda is coming over to sit on kaeya's feet. she's full on lioness, and growling at the barrier, but she's there. ]

[ ah.

just very softly rests a hand against her head, rubbing softly against one of her ears, even as she growls. ]

This is a nightmare.

[ pravda's ears flick and she stops growling long enough to headbutt his knee slightly. get it together. ]

[ he knows... he knows. he just slowly rubs his fingers against her jaw, her neck, a slow and steady rub as he watches. he offers her silent thanks with a last rub to her cheek as he moves to fold his arms, to watch quietly. ]

[she's silent, and she looks very tired, but she's close, hand on his back. emotional support elf. it'll be okay.]

[ this is his emotional support lup, it's true. he just. finds her hand and holds it, squeezing softly once. ]

Lup...

[she holds his hand tightly. or - well, tightly as she's able to, at the moment.]

It'll be okay. [she says, soft.] I'm here if you need me.

[she might need to lean against him a bit, but she's here!]

[ he will gladly just kind of. scoop her into a steadying hold. she's more than welcome to lean as much as she wants. ]

Another Sunday... our last Sunday, I hope.

[a little pause, and then she smiles a bit, though it doesn't reach her eyes.]

Yeah. Last Sunday. [...] You guys are gonna make it.

It gets tiring... doesn't it? Seeing this?

[ a frown, he'll squeeze her hand. ]

Can I ask? Why it is you've stuck with us for so long?

It sure does. I'm still not used to it.

[she twines their fingers together.] I haven't really had a choice, bud. Sticking with you guys - but uh. That's just the mean answer.

[she watches spike and diluc talk, ears flicking back.] I've stuck with you guys because you're good people, despite all of this. None of you want to hurt each other, not really. And if you do - it's because you love someone. How can I fault that?

I've stuck with you guys because you're human. Messy and wild and stunningly human. It makes me feel good to see.

[ oh... from where xie lian is standing, he glances over, and just smiles at lup, soft and gentle. weh. ]

[ there's a moment when he looks at the barrier, watches diluc decline the cigarette with the slow fire of his eyes burning. he looks back at lup and embraces her slowly, holds her close and steady to his chest. ]

Thank you... and we'll take care of you too. As you've taken care of us in this way.

[she hums, resting her head against him when he does. she's a bit cold, and her knees are a bit weak, so it's nice.]

Oh, please. I've just run around making you all buy me things, that's not helping. [but it's an easy little joke.] You take care of yourselves first. Don't worry about me.

Eyes on Diluc, now. He needs your support.

[ He never got the chance to speak with her, but he hears those words and can't help but glance over and smiles a bit. ]

[She moves to stand a little closer to him, not quite stepping into his bubble but also just — watching him in concern.]

[ his fingers curl into his fists briefly as he lifts them but doesn't slam against the barrier... merely taps it against so it vibrates back at him. ]

He'll do what he needs to do.

She steps closer, gently placing a hand on his arm.]
