WELCOME TO THE LAND OF PROSPERITY

Morning comes, and the world is alive.

Rays of warmth gently reach out to a place that has never seen the sun, bringing with it more vivid color than the world has seen before. The sky is clear, free of clouds and smog and gray, a picturesque scene to welcome a new day, a new life. The voices of the harpies welcome the dawn for the first time with a soft but joyful song, their voices light and sanguine as they take to the skies to sing of freedom from the powers they've always feared and served.

Drawn out by the familiar voices of the harpy, lifted into something beautiful, something heartfelt, are the ghosts that were hidden within the caves. Despondent, hopeless, beaten down for aeon by the harpies, they peer out into the open world that the bomb's explosion created. They watch the sun rise on the Land of the Dead - a sun many have not seen since time forgotten - and there is new hope. Slowly, one by one, the ghosts of the long dead and recently dead alike, those that have been ferried across to the resting place created by the Authority, begin to walk out into the sun.

And, just like that, they begin to fade to Dust, smiles on their faces after so long in the dark. The gold drifts in the air, to rejoin the world anew. Free will, intention, knowledge - soul.

The Tree of Knowledge thrives in the light, the last of the Dust of angels a perfect fertilizer to make it grow and stand tall over the participants of a competition they never chose to join, its branches blooming with flowers of white. And the participants themselves, all of you...

You, too, are alive. The icy touch of the ghosts has faded into something more natural and warm. Color returns to faces, and even without the touch of magic, all wounds are healed. You are alive. Your story will continue, and your happy ending awaits.

It's just across the river, and Charon is ready to take you there, through clear air where the mists have lifted. And when you finally arrive...

...Your souls are here to welcome you home. Even those who have lost that part of themselves will find it again, waiting at the docks to find their way into your arms the very second you step out, another second away simply too much to bear. And at last, your daemons shift, one last time, to settle on a form you may or may not have seen before - and you know, in your hearts, that this is a good thing, something natural, something to celebrate, no longer the herald of trauma or some misdeed.

Beyond the docks, the suburbs buzz with an energy it hasn't seen before. The ghosts, like your own, feel more warm and solid and real. The lost and misguided have a spark of hope in their eyes, their delight at the changes in this world unmistakable as they point to something, a little further out. Follow their gazes, and you'll find the source of their excitement easily.

A window to another world. Two - three - and more. As one person reaches out, a city on the other side slowly changes to a field of flowers. A small village changes to a desert market, through which the merchants wave people to come in, come in, they'd love to see you. Through another window, an empty and barren world littered with rubble shimmers to instead show a world filled with water and memory, perfectly intact, and someone new steps into this world to embrace a familiar face among the crowd.

The windows stabilize, allowing everyone to come and go as they choose. The Land of the Dead is no longer a prison, after all - merely a waypoint, just another stop along a journey that need only end when wanderers are ready.

What some might call an end, after all, is often a new beginning.


Welcome, travelers, to your golden end.

Dead and alive both have been revived, injuries healed, and powers returned to normal. Your daemons have all returned to you, though they will settle into one form, and will no longer shift - though this form does not have to be one of the three taken over the course of the game, and may yet be something new entirely.

Keep your coins! A new symbol has taken the place of the clock face or comet that marked your teams - a great, blooming tree. With that, you will be able to return to the Land of Prosperity at any time, and visit any other world that you wish to see.

Your characters are free to continue their stories however they choose - in their own world, or another.

[Kim's reunion with Cecile is as wordless as their parting, but when she flies up to land on his arm, he pulls her in close to his chest and gives her a few gentle strokes.

Then he turns his attention to the windows, scanning them for a familiar view. He finally finds it: a city's slums, cracked pavement, a dusting of snow seemingly disguising some of the damage. He lingers in front of it, looking fondly on the sight.]

I guess it's time to get back to work.

[He smiles a little at that.] I appreciate the concern.

[Sincerely. But also, kind of walking around the whole vacation suggestion. What's a vacation?]

Will you be going back to school?

[bloodread]

I might just sleep for a while first. [ Also seriously cause this boy is so tired. Missing a week of school isn't terrible? ]

I've missed a few months of school now anyway. [ He just assumes time has kept passing. ]

... Well, it's your choice.

[Kim's not a juvie cop anymore, he sure does not want to police anybody's school attendance.]

I trust you won't keep your niece waiting.

Course not. I'd bet Amanome has a guy set up outside my apartment too.

There's never a moment to rest, is there?

[It's good to see there's someone who doesn't take a vacation. People who take their jobs seriously are worthy of respect]

[A smirk.]

Never. Even if no time has passed, I can't shake the feeling that a mountain of paperwork has found a way to transcend space and time, just to pile up on my desk. And even if not, there's still plenty to do.

And what will you be doing next?

I should be going back home. I haven't been there in a century, but it's my home nonetheless. Just...restarting my life will keep me busy for a while.

[He has absolutely no idea what he'll do, but hey, Revali is the hero in his people's eyes, even if he died. The rest of the Rito probably will be very welcoming!]

If you ever need some time to rest I suppose Rito Village is a good enough place for that. Not that you should take paperwork with yourself -- it is a windy location.

[Not that he can imagine Kitsuragi having time for a vacation, hah. He said it: he has plenty to do, but hey, Revali thought he should offer anyway just so Kitsuragi is aware of it. It's the least he can do, out of gratitude for Kitsuragi's efforts these couple months]

You think they wouldn't mind outsiders there? [He did say he hasn't been there in a century...]

[wow. he really never rests, does he? sheba looks a little concerned, and aura does too; she seems to be drooping a little, where she's settled on her person's shoulder.]

You're going to be okay, though, right...?

Are you worried about me? [He looks like he's not sure how to feel about that.] I'll be fine, yes. It will be nice to be back home, working on normal, non-supra-natural cases again.

Well... yes. Everyone's been through a lot. That includes you.

But... I can see how it would be nice to go back to "normal," after all of this, too.

I'm quite all right. I'm used to high-stress situations, and... it's rare for things to work out as well as they have for us.

And you, Sheba? What do you have in store?

I'm going to follow Rochalizo back to his world for a little while... there's something I want to help him with there.

[she looks thoughtful.]

After that... I'm going to go to Teyvat to see Diluc and Kaeya.

Yes. I've been away for much too long already.

Ha ha... No rest for the righteous, is there? I suppose I cannot by surprised by it, however. Have a big case to return to?

You could say that. There's a sort of political powder keg that's about to explode... I expect we'll be very busy in the coming months.

[ flat will tilt his head, giving kim a curious look. ]

Did you ever stop working, sir?

Maybe not. But whether it's here or there, there are always more murders to solve.

Well, helping people is a good thing. My Professor is like you, I don't think I've ever seen him take a vacation.

But if you ever want to visit Monaco, just let me know! The races are usually around late May.
