22 Remain
Another week, another world to explore. Once again, waking brings you to unfamiliar surroundings, the bitter touch of Nerak cold fading to the more mild weather of autumn. The sound of cars or people talking or faint music greets your ears, no matter the time of day or night, and the light pollution is intense. Hope you weren't counting on seeing the stars.
Welcome to Kings, where you'll have your pick of shopping, entertainment, cute date spots, or just about anything else that you can think of! The city has something to offer for everyone. You'll never be wanting for things to do here - just try not to get lost in the subways. The locals may not be the most willing to help out.

Waiting for you to join them in the main plaza of Star Circle are Baraqiel, Shamsiel, and Suriel. You might have to push your way through the crowds to reach them properly, but no one's blinking an eye at your Watchers today. There are other people in costume hanging around already. What's a few angels to add to the antics?
Suriel greets everyone with their usual cheerful smile, fox daemon pressed close to their ankles to avoid getting lost in the crowd. "I bet this world reminds a bunch of you of home, huh? Let's all make the most of it while we're here!"
Baraqiel heaves a sigh, daemon weasel-formed and half-hidden in the folds of their hood as it suspiciously squints at every noise its little ears pick up. "Speak for yourself." They do not seem 100% thrilled with this worldhop, come the new week, but do at least offer something to the travelers gathered. "For those of you less used to cities like this, there are motorized vehicles of varying sizes in Kings - try not to get run over by them."
With a soft laugh, Shamsiel will look at Baraqiel and gently pat them on their upper arm and their falconet daemon will then proceed to take flight from their shoulder. At least they seem to be relieved that Baraqiel gave them a warning for those who aren't going to be familiar with it. "And much like the previous worlds we've been to, please be mindful of what you end up doing here. We are just visitors, after all, and it'd be rude if we left it all a mess."

As for your effect of the week... Your past injuries have cleared, with no phantom pains left to haunt you, your loved ones, or your launders. Instead, you'll find that you are unable to speak dishonestly - any time you try, your words get stuck on the tip of your tongue and never quite make it out. It's honesty week, lads - no more lying to yourselves or anyone else.

Talk to Baraqiel
but when you are able to find them, they're in the park or the library, largely avoiding people. their daemon sticks to its smaller weasel form mostly, as well, to avoid being touched by random passersby in a large city such has this. it'll shift to eagle or tiger when in the park, but otherwise avoids these forms. if the people of the city find them strange in presence and appearance, apparently they intimidate them enough into leaving them alone.
unfortunately, they are aware this will not work on you. :\ ]

In fact, as soon as Rin sees Baraqiel at the park- like hell would Rin be caught in a library- he's coming right on over with a big grin on his face.]
Hey! Ever been to a big city like this before?
no subject
[ baraqiel's daemon hops down from the branch it was perched on, doing that jaunty little hop walk that birds of prey do when on the ground, nipping rinkou's ear gently with its beak. ]
no subject
It feels just like home to me. I bet there's an arcade around here somewhere too, ever been to one?
no subject
The hell is an arcade. [ that would be a no. ]
no subject
[He is paying no mind to Rinkou being sat on by a tiger while she whines about her lot in life. He trusts Baraqiel, they wouldn't hurt Rinkou.]
no subject
anyways the tiger just ignores rinkou's whining, placidly sitting there on this poor wolverine. baraqiel considers this. ]
Alright. Fine.
no subject
Rin is grinning though, because! Showing Baraqiel what arcades are!!! And he points in the direction of one of the streets near the park.]
C'mon, it's over here.

Dokja will more or less sit right next to Baraqiel like they're two buddies that made plans to meet up and the reader showed up late. Speaking of, ] Sorry for being late.
[ His tone is every bit teasing. Jin peeks from the black scarf wrapped around Dokja's neck in her black hognose snake form, her tongue flicking out to blep innocently at the Watcher. Hello! ] It might be strange to go flying around so if you need help with public transit, I'm happy to hold your hand through it.
[ everyone: is kdj flirting with baraqiel. me: I assure you he's doing this just to be a little Shit to get a reaction. ]
no subject
If you were actually meant to meet me here, I would have left if you were late. [ it's honesty week, and that's just the watcher being blunt. ] You're also not my first choice for someone to hold hands with.
[ reaches and just - pinch-pulls dokja's cheek for being annoying. ]
no subject
Even if I had texted you ahead of time? [ Baraqiel doesn't even have a cell phone. ] That's alright, you aren't mine eit--gah.
[ his cheek!! ]
no subject
I have no idea what texting is. [ watching jin, the weasel slips out of the hood and clambers up it to drape on baraqiel's head, bracing its paws on the flower and feathers attached to it. ]
no subject
Here, I'll show you then. [ Jin seems to brace herself to somehow slither up and coil into a neat pile of snake right on the top of Dokja's head as she watches the weasel. snake magic.
Dokja meanwhile takes out his cell phone and once it's turned on he'll hand it over to Baraqiel to take, open on a messaging screen. ] It's basically like writing a letter or note to someone that they receive right away, assuming they have a cell phone as well. Some people like to text with emoticons, or well emojis.
[ Which he'll point out the function. Look at this variety of emojis, Baraqiel. What's your mood day? Speak in thy emote. ]
no subject
silence. consideration.
and then they tap out three.
🤨🙄😏 ]
no subject
Jin sticks her lil neck out further to also try and sneak a peek. Dokja just quietly watches, seeing if they'll write a message, or just play with the emojis because sometimes that's the fun part? Not that Dokja really posts any emojis himself but... anyways, the point is Baraqiel is trying it out.
...
Hm. He can't stop himself from snorting. ] Is that how you feel, Baraqiel-nim?
[ The other two he can understand, but why the 😏 ????? ]

standing in the park, xie lian lifts his hand to catch a falling leaf from a maple tree somewhere near baraqiel - as he catches it, he turns, and offers them a smile.
san lang, ferret formed, chitters happily and wriggles free of his spot around xie lian's neck, hopping down to great their daemon. ]
This time of year is beautiful no matter where you are, isn't it?
no subject
baraqiel's daemon goes right to greet san lang, mooing, tail flicking back and forth. while this greeting happens, xie lian gets a faint, affirmative noise. ]
I've seen an entire mountainside of maple trees gone completely crimson, so I think that sight takes the spot as victor. But it's not bad here, no.
no subject
...something about that description makes xie lian smile even further, softening. ] ...I've seen such a thing, too. It is a truly awe inspiring sight, but... I am glad for the familiarity in such a busy place, all the same.
no subject
me: mooing
boop! the tiger lowers its head further to allow san lang easier climbing, shaking out the rest of its body and going to come alongside its person and xie lian once it has its little rider. ]
Some small comfort in a city like this. Familiar but not. [ a thoughtful noise, and their wings shift under their cloak, a rustle of feathers, though they don't unfurl them here. ] How are you enjoying this place so far?
no subject
san lang seems perfectly happy with this. he now sits on top of the tiger like a gallant steed, little paws resting on the top of its head. ]
...I like it, I think. [ there's a soft sense of wonder in xie lian's voice. ] It's hard not to, isn't it? A place where people all of sorts comingle and intermix, where they live and laugh and spend their time - I should like a place like this very much.
Though... the metal, erm.. ah. Motorized coaches? Were a surprise. [ sweats ]
