Another week, another world to explore. Once again, waking brings you to unfamiliar surroundings, the bitter touch of Nerak cold fading to the more mild weather of autumn. The sound of cars or people talking or faint music greets your ears, no matter the time of day or night, and the light pollution is intense. Hope you weren't counting on seeing the stars.

Welcome to Kings, where you'll have your pick of shopping, entertainment, cute date spots, or just about anything else that you can think of! The city has something to offer for everyone. You'll never be wanting for things to do here - just try not to get lost in the subways. The locals may not be the most willing to help out.



Waiting for you to join them in the main plaza of Star Circle are Baraqiel, Shamsiel, and Suriel. You might have to push your way through the crowds to reach them properly, but no one's blinking an eye at your Watchers today. There are other people in costume hanging around already. What's a few angels to add to the antics?

Suriel greets everyone with their usual cheerful smile, fox daemon pressed close to their ankles to avoid getting lost in the crowd. "I bet this world reminds a bunch of you of home, huh? Let's all make the most of it while we're here!"

Baraqiel heaves a sigh, daemon weasel-formed and half-hidden in the folds of their hood as it suspiciously squints at every noise its little ears pick up. "Speak for yourself." They do not seem 100% thrilled with this worldhop, come the new week, but do at least offer something to the travelers gathered. "For those of you less used to cities like this, there are motorized vehicles of varying sizes in Kings - try not to get run over by them."

With a soft laugh, Shamsiel will look at Baraqiel and gently pat them on their upper arm and their falconet daemon will then proceed to take flight from their shoulder. At least they seem to be relieved that Baraqiel gave them a warning for those who aren't going to be familiar with it. "And much like the previous worlds we've been to, please be mindful of what you end up doing here. We are just visitors, after all, and it'd be rude if we left it all a mess."


As for your effect of the week... Your past injuries have cleared, with no phantom pains left to haunt you, your loved ones, or your launders. Instead, you'll find that you are unable to speak dishonestly - any time you try, your words get stuck on the tip of your tongue and never quite make it out. It's honesty week, lads - no more lying to yourselves or anyone else.

THE BIG CITY.

[ wow

this is a lot! xie lian has been mostly well adapted to the worlds so far, but the big city is, uh. lightyears beyond him, to say the least. he is definitely dressed like one of those "cosplayers" (by which we mean he has not changed his clothes out of his usual white robes), and is mostly walking with his head straight up, staring up at the tall, tall buildings in a sort of touristy awe.

as he continues to walk right into a crosswalk. there's a loud honk from a horn - xie lian yelps and out of straight instinct jumps up in the air, san lang in ferret form leaping almost a foot off of his shoulder straight in the air, and

lands on top of the car with his hand on his sword like he's ready for a fight. there's a moment of all around ??????? from driver, ferret, and human - and then xie lian realizes what happened, jumps back off, bows, immediately, and apologizes profusely - ] Sorry, I'm so sorry!

[ and then manages to make it back to the street corner with his hand on his heart. what weird metal monsters. help. ]

THE LIBRARY.

[ or, exploring a quiet area in an early morning in the library might find you xie lian, poking through all of the books and scrolls in a section called religion. it looks like he might have been researching, trying to get an understanding of anything relating to their situation, but... something's caught his eye.

that is to say, in a corner of the religion section, there's a shelf that reads NON-TRADITIONAL AND HISTORICAL and tucked away in that corner, there is a tiny statue sitting on a shelf, along with a few archival works of scrolls behind glass.

he hasn't said anything about it yet - is just staring, quietly, hands folded in front of himself. even san lang the ferret is silent, staring at the little statue figurine that looks almost like it shouldn't be there at all. ]

THE STAR CIRCLE.

[ after a nice happy moment of reflection, you can find xie lian in the star circle, but something's a little weird. see, he came here to send a letter, still holding a bottle in his hand, but -

well. he's been stopped in the same spot for like ten minutes, far from the fountain, because people keep asking to take a picture with him among the other costumed people in the circle. how often do you get to see a random beautiful prince in the middle of the city? with pretty fairytale princess hair? how often!!!

...aside from the fact that xie lian is completely unfamiliar with cameras he is also really, really polite, and as people keep asking he just kind of. lets them take pictures with him and pose with him. it's been going on for like ten minutes with no sign of stopping.

if he spots another familiar face there's a moment where he will lock eyes with whoever it is, and the look on his face absolutely screams oh no help ]

STAR CIRCLE, TWO!

[ alternatively, once the photo taking seems to have died down, eventually, two kids come up to xie lian with shining eyes and ask him something, and... well. how can he say no!

so, you can also find xie lian, sitting on the edge of the fountain and allowing these two little girls to braid his hair, any which way they want. ykyk. ]

[Well, that was kind of terrifying to watch. It looked like an accident was about to happen...

Kim puts a hand on Xie Lian's shoulder. Be calm, cosplay-man.]

Try to be careful around the motor carriages. Running out into the road is... not a good idea.

What... a motor carriage, is that what those are called? Haha...

You have to watch the lights to see when it's safe to cross. [He points to the pedestrian light on the other side of the road.] Red means it's not.

[ sche already has some books in her arms, and is content to leave xie lian alone when she sees him, but... ]

[ she is calm, careful in her approach. ]

[ ah... the voice of someone else, especially someone as kind and gentle as sche, gets his attention. xie lian snaps out of it, looking at the statue for just a moment longer, and then turning his head to offer her a smile. ]

...Ah. It just... is familiar. Is all.

[ with a small gesture to the little statue. ]

[ cuz boy that could have two different outcomes, couldn't it! ]

....Good. [ he says, after a moment, and when he turns to sche, there's a small smile on his face. it's a little nostalgic, a little bittersweet. ]

...It is me, after all.

Star Circle 2

[Well. Rin was going to bug Xie Lian to come see the city with him, but this is too precious to interrupt.

He's definitely over here trying not to laugh, because it really is cute. But ohhhh lordy, the situations Xie Lian ends up in.]

one of the little girls squeals an enthusiastic yes! and another says she's a princess! and xie lian

just closes his eyes. ]

[Well. They're not wrong about Xie Lian being royalty. But Rin will come over to stage-whisper something to the little girls:]

You know the movie with the space princess and the light swords, right? Make the braids into the side-buns thing, yeah?

[ one of the little girls gasps, and says, she can be sailor star! and xie lian has no idea what's going on. the other girl squeals and nods too, and they both start making his hair into sailor buns. ]

[ he's been staring at this for a bit now once he'd seen xie lian, the statue ringing a distant bell, back to otamo in a flash of golden memory.

his voice is soft. ]

xie lian is still staring at the statue - kaeya approaching surprises him, and he shakes his head, forcing himself back to reality. ]

he doesn't say anything, though, closing his mouth afterwards. ]

...Perhaps the knowledge of this library is quite detailed, indeed.

[ sorry binch that's what you get. kaeya just gets as close as he can, polaris perching on his shoulders and peering around to get a good look. he looks back at xie lian and then back at the statue, back at xie lian once more before stepping back. ]

Are you saying this place might have knowledge of not just its own world, beyond that?

he looks thoughtful for a moment, as he stares at the statue longer. ]

I'm not sure. ... I can think of somewhere else it may have come from. But... either way.

[ knowledge of his xian le would surely be archaic in a place like this, let alone knowledge of the flower crowned martial god. ] It just startled me.

[ flat completely misinterprets the very obvious "help" expression. he approaches the crowd, clapping his hands. ]

Wow, Xie Lian, you're really popular! I think it's because they think you're a cosplayer? Or an actor?

A cosplayer is someone that dresses up as a character from a fictional series, while an actor is someone that plays in movies, TV shows, or plays!

[ Akira fits in here more than he has with any other city, which is nice for a change. He had just walked over to see what people were gawking at from a distance and ah, figures.

He raises his voice and walks over with purposeful strides, staring down the gawkers. ]

Five bucks if you want a picture.

the crowd of people turn to look at akira. there's some muttering. one of them agrees and hands him five bucks and goes to take a picture with xie lian, who is still very ??? ]

Ah - Did you just make money off of that? [ akira please ]

[ Blink, he did not expect that to work the way it did but sure. ]

Thanks, go ahead. [ Waving the first paying customer onward. He honestly figured he would just scare people off because he is goth and very tall, but hey this works too.

Akira plants himself next to Xie Lian, but not close enough to ruin the picture. He is now a bouncer! ]

[ truly incredible. akira is now making bank! the tourist comes up to pose with him, and xie lian will smile, even if he looks still a little startled and also like he's not sure if he's going to laugh or cry. ]
